This short film gives a glimpse of the experiences at “Lunar Ball” that was held on April 6th, 2024 at the historic 1804 Wadsworth Homestead in Geneseo, NY. Guests were invited back on April 8th, 2024 to experience the eclipse’s darkness on the West Lawn of the homestead.
As a first-year RIT student enrolled in the solar eclipse class, I had to find and cover an event surrounding the eclipse. I wanted to find something that captured the eclipse in an art and social context that connected me to the Rochester community. The sun Festival, put on by PWS and hosted by Essex, caught my attention.
The Rochester Red Wings opened its stadium doors and the gates to Innovational Field as it hosted Solarpalooza, a $40/ticket event that the minor league team hosted for the community to view the solar eclipse on April 8, 2024.

The Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra presented the “RPO ECLIPSE SPECTACULAR: A Symphonic Celebration” to a sold-out crowd April 7 at the Blue Cross Arena in Rochester, N.Y. Along with the orchestra, the event featured performances from the Rochester City Ballet, PUSH Physical Theatre, Madrigalia, and Troupe Vertigo.
